About Our Pastor
Pastor Bernard Anderson is a native of Wetumpka, AL. One of five children, he was greatly influenced by his parents who were both very active in the church. He joined the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and soon showed the same fervor for working in the church that his parents had.
After graduating high school in 1974, he attended Troy State University, pursuing studies that led him into business. He moved to Lee County in 1980 and built a successful career in automobile sales and management. In 1986, at 29, he opened his own independent business, operating it for more than nine years.
Pastor Anderson accepted his call to ministry and was licensed to preach in December 1996, and ordained in June 1997 at Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where he began his first pastorate later that year. In 1999, he launched a successful local Christian radio program, “Coffee Break for Christ.” In September 2009, after serving two other churches, he was called to Pastor Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where he continues to serve. On December 31, 2015, after 37 years in the business world, many as a bi-vocational pastor, he retired to focus entirely on ministry.
Christian education has always been important to Pastor Anderson. He studied at the Montgomery Bible Institute and Theological Center and completed extension courses at Beeson Divinity School of Samford University. Alongside his pastoral duties, he is active in the community, serving as a counselor and on the Board of Directors for The Mercy Medical Clinic and The Women’s Hope Clinic in Auburn, AL.
Pastor Anderson is a founding Board member of Christ Our Redeemer Seminary, dedicated to equipping people for God’s global mission. He also serves on the Prison Ministry Team at the Lee County Detention Center, a role he has held for over 10 years. He lives in Auburn with his wife, Dr. Karen Anderson, and their two children, Subria and Jabez.
